Frequently Asked Questions

OUR ORGANIZATION

1. What is an enp?

An ENP is short for Extended Network of Professionals. We currently have 8 ENP members on our virtual team, each of whom is professionally qualified and gifted in her area of expertise.

2. How will Mica and her ENP team work together with me on my project?

If an ENP Team member is required to facilitate certain creative components of your project, Mica and the team members needed will first meet with you on a consultation Zoom call. Then once the project begins, the ENP team member will be working directly with you on your creative project while Mica gives insight and direction as needed.

3. What kind of clients do you work with?

We specialize in working with the Christian Spirit-filled book and media market. We work primarily with ministries, churches, and non-profit organizations, established and first-time writers, and some Christian business start-ups. For more information, please review the Client Qualifications.

EDITORIAL AND BOOK PUBLISHING

1. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SELF-PUBLISHING AND TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING?

In a nutshell, self-publishing gives you more control of the production process. While you do have to pay for all the production costs, you can publish your book when and how you want. You also keep all the rights to your work as well as all the royalties. However, because self-publishing limits your market reach, you will have to actively advertise and sell your book.

In traditional publishing, the publisher is responsible for all production costs, which means you have little control over the production process. Because publishers are very selective with the books they publish, traditional publishing is much more difficult to get into. On the other hand, while the publisher retains the rights to your work as well as a large percentage of the royalties, they have an extensive reach into the market and can sell larger quantities of your book to the general public.

2. How much should i expect to spend on self-publishing my book?

The final costs of self-publishing depend on the quality and length of the book, the complexity of the design, and cost of printing. Generally speaking, total production costs range between $3000-5000.

3. How long does it take to self-publish a book?

The time frame for self-publishing depends on several factors including quality and length of book, complexity of design and edits, your response time, and printing turnaround. Book production usually takes about 6-12 months. Transcript-to-manuscript ghostwriting projects tend to take a bit longer during the editorial stage, making the production timeframe last up to 1 year or more.

4. How long does it take to edit a book?

The time frame for editing a book depends on manuscript length, quality of writing, complexity of edits, revisions, and response time. Book edits usually take about 3-6 months. Transcript-to-manuscript ghostwriting projects can take about 4 -12 months.

5. How much does it cost for a book edit?

Editorial fees are based on book length, complexity of edits, and revisions. Most book edits cost between $2000-3000. This does not include final proofreading before or after typeset or any other production costs such as cover art design, typesetting, or printing. (Ghostwriting projects are a little more.) For pricing information, please request a Package and Pricing Guide from our office.

6. What is the difference between ghostwriting and editing?

If a manuscript is completely written and needs revision, a book edit is necessary. If a manuscript needs to be developed from raw material like transcripts, notes, outlines, interviews, or audio material, the book requires ghostwriting.

7. Do you have a waiting list for book edits?

Yes. Depending on the volume of our current workload, it may take a few weeks up to a few months to begin a new approved book edit.

8. What manuscript formats do you accept?

When submitting a manuscript to us for editing, please provide the manuscript in the proper format: MS Word document, double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins.

9. Do I have to design my book cover and typeset with Millennial Media in order for you to edit my book?

No. If you already have a typesetter, illustrator, or designer you prefer to work with, we can just edit or ghostwrite your book.

10. What are your rates for typesetting and design?

Please request a Design Packages and Pricing Guide from our office.
